Power Cycling the Bitporter Pod (and Connected Target Hardware)
Important! AnunpoweredBitportermustneverbeconnectedtopoweredtargethardware,orthe
Bitportermaybedamaged.
TheproperBitporterandconnectedtargethardwarepowercyclingsequenceis:
1. Turnoffthetargethardwa re.
2. UnplugtheBitporterfromitspowersource(eithertheUSBcable,ortheDCpower
supply).
3. Waitatleast
5seconds.
4. PlugtheBitporterbackintoitspowersource(eithertheUSBcable,ortheDCpower
supply)andwaitfortheBitporter’sPOWERLEDtolightup.
5. Turnonthe targethardware.
Alternately, if power cycling the target hardware is not desirable, the following sequence
wouldalsobesafe:
1. Disconnectthe
JTAGribboncablefromtheBitporter
2. UnplugtheBitporterfromitspowersource(eithertheUSBcable,ortheDCpower
supply).
3. Waitatleast5seconds.
4. PlugtheBitporterbackintoitspowersource(eithertheUSBcable,ortheDCpower
supply)andwaitfortheBitporter’sPOWERLEDto
lightup.
5. ConnecttheJTAGribboncabletotheBitporter.
Note that since the Bitporter typically only requires power cycling after abnormal program
termination, which will also typically leave the target device in an undefined state, power
cyclingboththeBitporterandtargethardwareisgenerallyrecommended.
